What brought you to United Way of Treasure Valley?
I gained a passion for the United Way through leading our workplace campaign at Wafd Bank for many years. It was impactful to learn about the needs in our community, and I loved learning about organizations making a positive impact. That led me into being involved in other ways.
How long and in what capacity have you been involved?
Heading our workplace campaign led me to getting involved with the Vision Council. I have been part of the Financial Stability Vision Council for seven years. I’ve also been involved with Women United.
With the help of donors and volunteers, United Way is able to do so much. What area(s) are you most passionate about?
I am most passionate about kids and working to change the outcome for students coming from disadvantaged homes. It’s heartbreaking to hear about the number of homeless students in our community and schools. As important as education is in determining a child’s future, it’s hard to imagine a child trying to focus on learning if they’re hungry or have other unmet basic needs. The work to bring stability to these kids to help them on a path to a successful future is very important to me.
