Here we are! Member number seven on our Dream-Team-Campaign-Cabinet! So far, you've met Beth Toal, John Colgrove, Mindi McAllaster, Weston Arnell, Angelique Rood, and Jet Hood. Today, we bring you the lovely Maurine Collins from JR Simplot!
Tell us about being on the Campaign Cabinet. What motivated you to want to get involved?
The work that United Way does in our community is so important and needs to be supported at every level. I am pleased to be involved to help in even a small way and support the future of such a well respected organization.
There are so many ways to give back and be involved with charitable organizations. Why do you choose United Way?
The services programs offered by United Way are integral to a growing community like Boise. Having grown up in Boise, I have seen the Valley grow while at the same time try to adapt to a changing population. With the tremendous growth we are experiencing, we need the resources that United Way offers more than ever. Even as we grow, we need to maintain the sense of community that we are so proud of and offer support to our friends, neighbors and those in need.
Tell us a little about your role with your organization and what you do!
I am fortunate to work for the J.R. Simplot Company, a huge supporter of United Way! I work with a talented team of product marketers in Simplot Food Group where we sell our products into the Foodservice channel. Although we are best known for our famous French Fries, my team and I work on our Vegetable business. When you dine out at a restaurant, there is a good chance you are eating a Simplot Vegetable, Fruit, Roasted Vegetable, Roasted Potato or Avocado product!
What are you doing when you’re not working your tail off at your place of employment or for United Way?
We are a busy family with two active girls ages 9 and 10. The girls keep us busy with Gymnastics, Dance, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Tennis and Golf. We also love to travel! If we aren’t home on the weekend, we are usually off having fun in the mountains or exploring a new destination. If we are at home, then I am most likely researching where we want to go next!
