Meet Oman, a vibrant grade-schooler in Idaho, whose love for reading is not just a personal joy but a powerful tool for his family.
Recently, during a routine medical visit, Oman was gifted a book of his choice, made available by United Way of Treasure Valley’s partnership with Book It Forward! Idaho. His excitement was palpable as he shared that he uses books to teach his mother English; a dream she’s held dear since their family immigrated from the Middle East to Idaho as refugees.
Oman's story is a testament to the transformative impact of literacy, and we invite you to join our community literacy efforts! United Way of Treasure Valley, in partnership with Book It Forward! Idaho are on a mission to empower children like Oman, who, armed with books, can become catalysts for change within their families, and by extension, their communities.
Your support can make a real difference. By rallying behind our literacy initiatives, you're not just helping individual children. You're fostering a community that values the richness of cultural diversity and the power of education.
You can help by donating new and gently used books at any Treasure Valley CapEd, WaFd, or Albertsons location.
You can volunteer to help clean, sort, and distribute books (registration will be live in March).
You can provide a sponsorship.
And you can make a direct donation to provide resources, support, and opportunities for these young learners. Help us build bridges through literacy and ensure that every child has the chance to dream and succeed.
However you choose to show your support, you can be part of the story that changes the odds. With your help, we can create a more equitable community where everyone can thrive.
