Unemployment Insurance Website
Services Offered: If you have experienced a loss of employment due to the COVID-19 epidemic, including those who are self-employed, you may be eligible for unemployment insurance from the Idaho Department of Labor. This includes those workers who are temporarily laid off, but intend to go back to work once the economy has resumed.
Credit Card Companies
Many credit card companies are allowing customers flexibility in payments, including the ability to skip payments without interest (Apple Card, American Express, Capital One, Wells Fargo, and others). Don't just skip a payment; be sure to call and talk to a service representative. You will need to be prepared to discuss how COVID-19 has impacted your financial experience in order to receive any flexibility. Check with your Credit Card company for latest details.
Utility Companies
Several local utility companies are offering flexibility for Idahoans impacted by COVID-19. Utilities may offer flexibility in payments, waive fees, suspend disconnections, offer extended services, etc. Utility companies offering flexibility include AT&T, CenturyLink, Sparklight/Cableone, Spectrum, Verizon, Idaho Power, Intermountain Gas, Suez Water, and others. Don't just skip a payment; be sure to call and talk to a service representative. You will need to be prepared to discuss how COVID-19 has impacted your financial experience in order to receive flexibility. Some internet providers are also providing free services. Student Loan Payments Website
Through the CARES act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act), direct federal student loan payments (not Federal Family Education Loans or private student loans) are suspended through December 31, 2020. Loan recepients won't receive penalty for skipping payments, and credit scores won't be impacted. All automatic payments will be automatically suspended through December.
Some private student loan providers may offer flexibility in payments. Contact your loan holder for more information.
Insurance Providers
Several insurance providers are allowing skip payments, extending payments, and waiving late fees for customers. Insurance providers offering flexibility at this time include Allstate, Geico, and others.
